  • CAVACs act on the premise that the situation in which the majority of victims find themselves is a temporary one and that effective support will help them regain a sense of control in the short- to mid-term. Victims who require long-term therapy are referred to the appropriate resources.
  • CAVACs recognize that the victims themselves must take charge of regaining their autonomy and consequently provide support that focuses on the victim's own resources.
  • CAVACs treat victims with courtesy, fairness, understanding and respect for their dignity and privacy.
