The goal of group information sessions is to inform witnesses about the court process and prepare them to testify. Each session includes an explanation of the CAVAC's services, the basic principles of criminal law, and the steps in the court process.
It also includes a tour of the courthouse and courtroom with relevant explanations, in the presence of a representative of the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DCCP), also known as a Crown attorney, who can answer questions from participants.
The case workers can also answer questions from participants and intervene as needed. Each group, with a maximum of 6 participants, is supervised by 2 case workers.
