On June 20, at La Tuque, the CAVAC for the Mauricie region presented its brand-new information leaflet in Atikamekw. The translation of the leaflet, already undertaken by the CAVAC for the Côte-Nord region, will help facilitate the promotion of CAVAC services in Native communities. The event was planned to coincide with Canada’s National Aboriginal Day.
The press conference was a resounding success. Along with the Mauricie CAVAC team, including executive director Sylvie Biscaro and board of directors member Solange Dupuis-Lamothe, 22 guests from a range of Native and non-Native organizations in the region were in attendance.

The main goal of this initiative is to make the Mauricie CAVAC better known in the region, and especially to promote the services it provides. The event is part of a broader process to raise awareness about the many needs of crime victims from all backgrounds, and especially from the Atikamekw community in the Mauricie region. Other information activities have already been implemented by the CAVAC.
