Team of professionals

The Montérégie CAVAC team is a group of 12 persons who work in the main office in Longueuil and each of the service points.

The CAVAC team is made up of professionals trained to provide assistance to victims of crime.

Background

The Montérégie CAVAC was established in 1989 and has been delivering its services since February 1990. The CAVAC was known as the CAVAC of the judicial district of Longueuil for many years before the name Montérégie CAVAC was adopted.

The Montérégie CAVAC has been involved in a number of working, consultative and cooperation committees at the regional and local levels over the past years in addition to offering services to clients. They include:

  • an expert committee and local intervention team;
  • a committee on the abuse of and violence against the elderly;
  • a training committee on the abuse of and violence against the elderly;
  • several committees looking into conjugal violence and sexual assault;
  • a committee addressing the issue of street gangs; and a committee on community mediation.

The Montérégie CAVAC delivers its services throughout the area served by the Longueuil courthouse (judicial district of Longueuil), the Saint-Hyacinthe courthouse (judicial district of Saint-Hyacinthe), the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse (judicial district of Beauharnois), the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse (judicial district of Iberville) and the Sorel-Tracy courthouse (judicial district of Richelieu).
